22nd November '06 - Up the Pole at Christmas
Bell Street’s Jill Offord has come up with a
brilliant idea to send Christmas wishes and save the environment at the same
time.
She’s suggested that the flagpole, which hosts birthday greetings throughout
the year, should also be used for Horntonians to say ‘Happy Christmas’ to
friends and neighbours.
“The idea is that you would rent the flagpole for a day in return for a £5
donation to village funds,” says Jill.
“Any birthdays would still take precendence and it can only happen before
the Christmas tree goes up but, if people don’t mind sharing, we can
maximise the number of greetings.
I see it as a way of sending festive greetings to friends in the village
whilst saving a few trees and donating to charity, as all the money will go
to the Pavilion fund.”
Flag pole supreme Ian Harris has given the thumbs up to the idea and if
you’d like to put your Christmas greetings “up the pole” you should ring him
as soon as possible on 01295 670541.
22nd November '06 - This was no Turkey

15th November '06 - All Sorted
The Hornton Allsorts’ first Theme Night for three years is already sold out!
The event, which has a Christmas Theme and takes place at the pavilion this Saturday, proved so popular that extra tickets had to be made available.
The big demand for tickets is especially good news because there’s been a rise in ticket prices since the last show in 2003 and because one recent event at the pavilion had to be cancelled when insufficient tickets were sold.
If you’re a lucky ticket holder, see you on Saturday!

If you need any information, or would like to book the camera and / or computer for anytime between now and March, call Pete Whitehead on 670320. 9th November '06 - Neighbourhood Watch messages
A resident in Bodicote recieved a call during the evening of the 9th November from a male caller purporting to be from NPOWER. The caller asked for bank details, which was refused. The caller persisted by asking for bank details to be sent by email, again this was refused.
It has been confirmed that NPOWER would not ask for bank details over the phone.
The resident states the caller was very persistant and is worried that vulnerable people may be tempted to give out the details.
Please make your neighbours aware.
