HARBURY AND DISTRICT CRIB LEAGUE RULES AUGUST 2003

1 That this combinations of teams shall be known as the Harbury & District Crib League and shall not extend beyond the Fosse Way in the west, the county boundary in the east, the River Leam in the North and the A422 in the south, except by special invitation at an AGM.

2 The Officials of the League shall constitute the Committee and consist of Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer, Fixture Secretary and two Auditors, who must be elected annually at the AGM, which will be in August. An Extraordinary General Meeting can be called at any time during the season, providing a majority of the registered Clubs request it The Committee shall be given at least 2 weeks notice to call an EGM.

3 The annual entrance fee shall be £25 per team, payable at the start of the season and this fee shall include entry to all competitions.

4 Each team shall consist of a minimum of 5 players and a maximum of 9 players for each match. Each player may play in one singles and one doubles game. A match shall consist of 5 singles and 2 doubles games. Spectators must not influence the game in any way. In singles matches the home team must provide a Pegger and the away team a Scrutineer, their word being final, subject to appeal to the committee. 5 All players in the team must be registered on a League Registration form with the Fixture Secretary at least two clear days before playing.

6 No player may register for more than one team and transfers must have the agreement of both Captains and two members of committee.

7 Any team playing an illegible player or any team not fielding the minimum of 5 players shall forfeit the match 4-0

8 All matches are to commence on a Tuesday at 8.30pm. The first game must be a pairs game; the remaining sequence of games to be agreed by the Captains. Home Captains to put names down first for each game. The last player must be present before 10pm.

9 Matches can only be postponed in extreme circumstances. Where a postponement occurs it is the duty of the Captain who postpones to arrange a mutually agreeable time for the match, which must take place within two weeks of the original date. If the match cannot be rearranged the team NOT causing the postponement shall be awarded the match points.

10 The Winning team must ensure that the score card for each match, naming players participating, reaches the fixture Secretary by the following Monday morning at the latest. Failure to return the card will result in a loss of points for that match.

11 Winning teams will be awarded 2 points per match. At the end of the season the league positions will be decided by a) Most points scored; b) if points are equal then by the difference in legs won to legs lost; c) if these are equal then by a play off match. Should a team resign mid-season, first half results will be included: if mid-season not completed then all results will be deleted.

12 Any proposed alterations to these rules must be sent in writing to the League Secretary one month before the AGM and must be agreed by majority vote at the AGM.

HARBURY AND DISTRICT CRIB LEAGUE RULES OF PLAY

INDIVIDUALS
The game shall be best of 3 legs, the player winning two being the winner. Each player cuts for deal at the start of each leg, lowest cut(ace low) is the dealer and takes the box. The cut loser is awarded three holes for non-box. After the first hand each player deals cards in turn.

The dealer, after shuffling the cards, offers the pack to the opponent for a cut then, commencing with the opponent, deals 5 cards each. Each player casts 2 cards to the box and the non-dealer cuts the pack for the dealer to turn up the top card. If a jack is turned up, 2 holes are awarded to the dealer. The non-dealer leads play which shall be once to 31, with excess cards being ignored. Hands shall be pegged starting with the non-dealer and each leg shall be 61 holes straight out.

PAIRS
The game shall be best of 3 legs, the pair winning two being the winner. One player from each team cuts for deal at the start of each leg, lowest (ace low) is the dealing team and takes the box. After the first hand each player deals cards in turn clockwise.

The dealer after shuffling the cards offers the pack to the opponent on his right for a cut then, commencing with the opponent on his left, deals 5 cards each. Each player casts 1 card to the box and the opponent to the left of the dealer cuts the pack for the dealer to turn up the top card. If a jack is turned up, 2 holes are awarded to the dealer's team. The opponent to the left of the dealer leads play to 31. This sequence shall continue, until all cards are used, with the player to the left of the one reaching 31 (or nearest) restarting each play. Hands shall be pegged starting with the player to the left of the dealer and each leg shall be 121 holes straight out.

HARBURY AND DISTRICT CRIB LEAGUE COMPETITIONS

League championship
Teams plays a home and away matches on Tuesdays evenings as published in the calendar.

Knockout cup
Each team is entered into the Cup with fixtures being drawn by the Committee. The matches take place on Tuesdays as shown in the calendar.

Individual Knockout
Each team will elect a representative to play in a knockout match, which takes place on a Tuesday night at the end of the season. The venue for the event will be the home venue of the previous year's winner.

Pairs Knockout
Each team will elect a representative pair to play in a knockout match, which takes place on a Tuesday night at the end of the season. The venue for the event will be the home venue of the previous year's winning pair.

Presentation Evening Pairs
The winner and runner up of all competitions are presented with trophies in a presentation evening on the last Tuesday of the season. The evening will also host a pair's knockout competition.
