Hornton Toddler group
2002 has been a good year for the "Hornton Toddlers".
Earlier this year we were awarded £300 from Banbury Charities to purchase new equipment. With much of our equipment needing replacing
due to much use, we used the award to purchase such items as a scooter, an easel, a tricycle, some footballs and goal( which went down
well with the girls as well as the boys- future Hornton F.C ?), and a dolls house . There was also a need for somewhere for the
children to sit for creative activities, therefore we also now have 4 small tables and twelve chairs.
We were also successful in a bid for a grant from the "Awards for All"- Jubilee Fund ( Lottery). With this we have added to our arts and crafts section, and bought construction toys, all of which will help expand the creativity and play value of what we offer. We now feel very well equipped to entertain and encourage creativity and play in our children
Part of our "Awards for All" funding went towards a Jubilee fun day during the October half term, where the local children enjoyed various activities such as crown making, face painting, parachute games, a magician and the all important party lunch. The weather was kind to us, allowing us to run the Treasure Hunt outside. It was lovely to see this group of 21, whose ages ranged from 0 - 5, running around the sports field, the majority of whom insisted on having a Spider Man face paint, hunting in the mud for those special chocolate gold coins Although the significance of the Queens Jubilee may have been lost on some of our young charges, they will certainly remember their Jubilee Fun Day for a long time to come.
